Columbus Anti-Littering Campaign
That's Illegal, Dispose Properly
In partnership with Keep Columbus Beautiful, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and the Columbus Department of Public Service, we produced an awareness campaign for the City of Columbus encouraging residents to be more considerate of their waste disposal habits.
This campaign consisted of paid media on social as well as out of home digital boards in the Short North neighborhood and near The Ohio State University campus to target a younger audience, especially around the aptly described off campus housing's "move-out season." In addition, signage was created and installed on trashcans along Parsons Ave. for additional reach and stickers were applied to the garbage trucks to create a multi-pronged approach.
Campaign messaging featured attention grabbing headlines in a PSA style that intend to make the user pause and then follow up with a fact or statistic and a solution or suggestion of what to do instead.
In addition to these awareness assets, employee feature spotlights were released to show added appreciation for the people behind the scenes doing the work. This juxtaposed the "true crime" style of awareness content with hero imagery of the public service employees to create a comprehensive campaign to reach local audiences on an. emotional level and show the real life effects of littering in our communities.
